London: So, Emma Raducanu recently shared that she sent a heartfelt apology to Andy Murray. This was after she had to pull out of their mixed doubles match at Wimbledon last year, which ended his time in the tournament.
After losing in the men’s doubles with his brother Jamie, Andy was all set to team up with Emma. But she had to back out because of some stiffness in her wrist. It was a bummer for both of them since they never got to play together.
Andy couldn’t find a replacement partner either, which left him feeling pretty disappointed. He ended up retiring from tennis later that summer after playing at the Paris Olympics.
Emma mentioned that she reached out to Andy to clear the air. She said, “I sent him a long message basically apologizing if I caused any trouble at Wimbledon.” It’s clear she really respects him and didn’t want any hard feelings.
She added that Andy took her message well, even though he was disappointed. Now, they’re on good terms and can greet each other when they see one another. Emma also thinks it’s cool to see him working with Novak Djokovic in Melbourne.
