Ramsey: This morning, the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service had their hands full with a big house fire. Firefighters worked hard for about two hours to get it under control.

Crews from both Ramsey and Laxey rushed to the scene on Lezayre Road, close to Ramsey Grammar School, around 10 AM. It was quite a sight, with thick smoke pouring out and emergency vehicles everywhere.

They had to close part of Lezayre Road until around noon while the firefighters tackled the blaze. When they arrived, they found a well-established fire that was creating a lot of smoke.

The Incident Commander quickly decided to fight the fire from the outside using a hose reel and a 45mm jet. Two brave firefighters suited up with breathing gear and went inside to battle the flames.

Then, four more firefighters joined them to help control the situation and prevent the fire from spreading further. After about 20 minutes, they managed to get the fire under control and put it out, but they stayed on site for another two hours to make sure everything was safe.

Thankfully, no one was injured, but the cause of the fire is still a mystery. The fire service expressed their gratitude to the police for managing the road closure and thanked the public for their patience during the incident.

They also reminded everyone about the importance of fire safety and encouraged people to check their homes for fire risks online.
