Cotswolds: Ellen DeGeneres is in a bit of a pickle with local councillors. They’re worried about her home extension possibly disturbing Roman remains.
Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, bought their farmhouse last June. They paid £2.5 million over the asking price, which is quite a lot!
Local parish councillors think there was a ‘technical breach’ when the extension was built. They contacted planning enforcement officers about it.
Three councillors expressed concerns about the potential disturbance of Roman remains. They noted that the owner must report any historic finds.
Residents also worry that the new hedge and fence could increase flood risks in the village. They fear rubbish could block water flow.
A spokesperson for the council said the Roman remains are over 200 yards away. They confirmed the work was done well and met standards.
District councillor Rosie Pearson mentioned she contacted the officer about the extension. She confirmed it wasn’t a serious breach and posed no threat to Roman remains.
Last November, Ellen was seen enjoying a drink at a local pub owned by Jeremy Clarkson. She seems to be settling into her new life in the countryside.
In an Instagram reel, Ellen was spotted at a live music session with Portia and friends. They were having a great time with other celebrities there too.
People confirmed Ellen officially moved to the Cotswolds, where she and Portia are getting to know their new community.
A source said Ellen started house hunting in early October and quickly found a place she loved.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended in May 2022 after 19 seasons, following workplace controversy that began in 2020.
