Stoke-on-Trent: A sad incident unfolded when an elderly woman lost her life after a crash with an unmarked police car. It happened on December 5, and the police car had its blue lights flashing.
The woman, who was in her eighties, was driving a red Nissan Micra when it collided with a Skoda Octavia. She was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away on Christmas Day after being readmitted earlier that month.
Staffordshire Police are now under scrutiny, as they referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). They’ll be looking into what happened before the crash.
Officers are asking anyone who might have seen the accident or the vehicles leading up to it to come forward. They really want to piece together the events of that day.
The IOPC has stated they will independently investigate the situation, especially since the woman’s death has changed the nature of the inquiry. They’re reaching out to her family to offer support during this tough time.
For anyone with information, they can call 101 and mention incident 404 from December 5, or email the collision investigators directly.
