El Paso: So, it looks like El Pasoans are in for a chilly surprise! The National Weather Service is saying we might wake up to some pretty cold temps, dipping down to 27 degrees. That’s right, the first freeze of the season is on its way.

As a cold front rolls in, some areas could even see temperatures in the upper teens or low 20s. Can you believe it? Usually, we don’t hit freezing until mid-November, but here we are. The coldest we’ve seen so far was 33 degrees at the airport just a few days ago.

If it does freeze, it’ll mark a long stretch of 296 days since the last freeze. That’s the fifth-longest gap we’ve had! The record is 309 days back in 2017. But don’t worry too much; it looks like we’ll warm up again by Thursday and into the weekend.

To get ready for this cold snap, the National Weather Service is reminding everyone to protect the four P’s: People, Pets, Pipes, and Plants. So, make sure to check on your neighbors, keep your pets cozy, insulate those pipes, and cover your plants to keep them warm.

And just a heads up, winter officially starts on December 21 this year. So, let’s see how this freeze plays out!
