Leith: The participatory budgeting scheme is a big deal for the community. It’s the first time in the city that council-backed funding of up to £5,000 is available for projects under the theme “Leith Uniting.”

Next Saturday, folks can learn all about how this works. It’s a chance for everyone to get involved and see how their ideas can make a difference.

The projects need to be fresh or add something new to the community. They’ll kick off from April 1, 2025, and run until March 2026.

Voting happens on Saturday, January 18, at the Leith Community Centre in the Kirkgate. Even if you can’t vote, it’s a great day to meet locals and hear about all the exciting projects.

The Edinburgh Reporter will be there to cover the latest updates. If you can’t make it in person, don’t worry! You can vote online from January 20 to February 3.

Anyone aged 8 and up who lives, works, volunteers, or goes to school in Leith can cast their vote. It’s a fantastic way to get involved and support the community!
