Ipswich: A well-known broadcaster and DJ is encouraging folks in Suffolk to join a big cancer fundraising event. It’s a great chance to make a difference!

Throughout January, Cancer Research UK is offering a sweet 50% discount on signups for their Race for Life events. How cool is that?

There are two events lined up in Suffolk: one at Nowton Park in Bury St Edmunds on June 8 and another at Trinity Park in Ipswich on June 15. Mark your calendars!

Adele Roberts, the broadcaster and DJ, is all in for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in 2025. She’s got an inspiring story to share.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people join Race for Life events across the UK, raising millions for cancer research. It’s a big deal!

Adele herself battled bowel cancer in 2021 and now lives with a stoma. Just 18 months later, she smashed a Guinness World Record for running a marathon with a stoma bag. Talk about inspiring!

Now, she’s on a mission to conquer all six World Major Marathons, including Berlin, Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Boston, and London, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK and the Attitude Mag Foundation.

She was inspired to join the Race for Life by her sister, Lois. It’s a touching story of family and support.

Adele shared, “I Race for Life because of my little sister Lois. In just two years, my Auntie Ann lost our Uncle Phil to cancer and then faced it herself without her husband.”

Lois wanted to participate in Race for Life to honor Auntie Ann and Uncle Phil, and she inspired Adele to do the same. It’s all about giving back!

Race for Life features four events: a 3K, 5K, or 10K course, plus the ‘Pretty Muddy’ obstacle course. There’s something for everyone!

If you want to sign up, you can snag the early bird deal with the code RACE25NY. But hurry, this deal runs until January 31!

Patrick Keeley, Cancer Research UK’s spokesman for the East of England, emphasized the importance of the cause. “Sadly, nearly one in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime, but all of us can help beat it,” he said.

He added, “We’re proud that Race for Life has already helped double survival rates in the UK. Every penny raised truly makes a difference.”

Patrick encourages everyone to join in, saying, “There is an event for everyone – and we mean everyone. January is the perfect time to get a little more active!”

Whether you’re living with cancer, honoring a loved one, or just in it for the fun, there’s a place for you at Race for Life.
