Philadelphia: So, the Eagles are in a bit of a pickle. Jalen Hurts is officially out for the game against the Cowboys this Sunday. He’s still in concussion protocol after getting hurt in the first quarter against the Commanders. Kenny Pickett will be taking the reins as the starting quarterback.

Hurts didn’t practice at all this week, which isn’t a good sign. He was replaced by Pickett during the last game, and now it’s all on him. Plus, running back Will Shipley is also out with a concussion, so the Eagles are really feeling the heat.

On the injury report, it’s not looking great. Hurts, Shipley, and wide receiver Britain Covey are all out. Linebacker Nakobe Dean is doubtful, and defensive end Bryce Huff is questionable. A.J. Brown and Josh Sweat are good to go, which is a relief.

Interestingly, linebacker Zack Baun mentioned he’ll be wearing the green dot on his helmet this week. It seems like the Eagles are preparing for Dean’s potential absence. Covey has missed three games now, and he might be headed for injured reserve if this keeps up.

The big news, though, is Pickett stepping in as the starter. He’s been preparing for this moment and seems pumped. He said it’s a big opportunity for him, and he’s ready to go. He’s been practicing with the first-team offense, so he’s getting comfortable.

Even Pickett isn’t 100% healthy, though. He’s dealing with a rib injury but plans to wear extra padding to protect himself. In his last game, he threw for 143 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Eagles are hoping to adjust their game plan to fit his style better.

This will be Pickett’s first start in over a year, so it’s a significant moment for him. The Eagles’ backup quarterbacks are Tanner McKee and Ian Book, who just returned to the practice squad. It’s going to be an interesting game for sure!
