Melbourne: Recently, Peter Dutton made a significant pledge. He promised to establish an anti-Semitism taskforce if his Coalition wins the next federal election. This comes after a synagogue in Melbourne was firebombed, raising alarms in the Jewish community.

Dutton pointed out that since the Hamas attack on October 7 last year, there’s been a noticeable rise in racism against Jewish people. He mentioned that this kind of blatant discrimination has become a daily issue.

He shared that there have been thousands of incidents where individuals have faced harassment in their businesses and places of worship. Dutton emphasized that this behavior is completely unacceptable.

To tackle this, he plans to bring stronger national leadership and action right from day one if he becomes Prime Minister. One of the key initiatives is the new taskforce, which will be led by the Australian Federal Police along with other law enforcement agencies.

This taskforce will investigate complaints related to doxing and online threats against Jewish individuals, addressing the discrimination that has been reported since last October. It’s a serious step towards ensuring safety and respect for the Jewish community in Australia.

More updates are expected soon.
