Canberra: Peter Dutton isn’t too fussed about his Christmas gifts, but he’s got his eyes set on the top political spot in the new year.
This former Liberal leader took a moment to celebrate the Aussie spirit, especially during tough financial times, in his Christmas message.
He pointed out that with rising costs, many folks had to make do with less this year.
Dutton acknowledged that it’s been a tough holiday season for many, saying, “I salute our charity workers and food banks who are always there for those in need.”
He highlighted how the Australian spirit really shone through despite the challenges of 2024.
“Even with all the financial pressures, Australians showed their resilience – that’s just how we roll,” he noted.
He encouraged everyone to lend a hand, especially during Christmas, which can be a hard time for many.
“Let’s think of those who are struggling and reach out to them,” he urged.
Reverend Charissa Suli from the Uniting Church echoed his sentiments, reminding us that hope is always there, even in tough times.
She shared stories of grief and isolation but emphasized that the Christmas story is about hope, born into hardship.
Bishop Vincent Long also encouraged Australians to stay hopeful and not lose heart during difficult times.
Dutton wrapped up his message by honoring past generations for shaping Australia into what it is today.
“Despite our challenges, let’s remember how fortunate we are to live in this amazing country,” he said.
He wished everyone a happy, safe, and relaxing Christmas from his family to yours.
