Durham: The council has told folks to leave their bins out if they missed the usual collection due to the recent icy weather. They want to make sure everyone gets their waste picked up.

A spokesperson from Durham County Council mentioned they’re pretty confident about collecting the missed bins after last week’s bad weather. If your bin was missed, just give them a ring at 03000 260 000. They’ve got extra crews ready to help out today.

However, some waste experts are saying that in certain parts of the UK, it might take up to a month to sort out bin collections. That’s a bit of a bummer.

Mark Hall, a waste management expert, pointed out that missed collections during bad weather are just part of the deal. With many areas already facing delays of one to two weeks, it could mean some folks are waiting up to four weeks in the worst-hit spots.

He also noted that snow and ice make it tough for bin lorries to get around safely. Local councils have to think about the safety of everyone on the road, including pedestrians and their own workers. It’s a tricky situation, and we totally get how frustrating it is for residents, especially with all the extra waste from the holidays.
