Newtown: So, here’s the scoop. The A303 is going to be closed for a bit while they do some much-needed resurfacing. It’s a two-mile stretch between Newtown and Stopgate Cross that’s affected.

Starting tonight, they’ll close the road on weeknights from 8 PM to 6 AM until January 24. Then, it’ll be shut all weekend until January 27. So, if you’re planning to drive that way, you might want to rethink your route.

There’s another closure coming up too, from 8 PM on January 31 until 6 AM on February 3. If you’re heading east, you’ll need to take a detour via the A30 and Stooper’s Hill to get back on the A303 north of Newtown.

For those going west, the detour will be the opposite. It’s a good idea to plan your trips ahead of time to avoid any hassle.

National Highways mentioned that you can find more details about the work and the diversion routes on their website. Plus, for real-time travel updates, check out their Twitter feed or give their info line a call at 0300 123 5000.
