Launceston: A driver has been charged after a tragic incident where a girl got hurt and a horse had to be put down. This happened during a crash involving a van and a horse on Sunday, January 12.

The little girl, just eight years old, was airlifted to the hospital but thankfully her injuries weren’t as bad as they first thought. Sadly, the horse didn’t make it and had to be put to sleep right there by the vets.

Police arrested a 61-year-old man from Launceston named Christopher Rogers. He’s facing several charges, including driving without care, being disqualified, and not having insurance.

He’s been released on bail and is set to appear in court on February 7. The police confirmed that they charged him in connection with the accident, which has raised a lot of concerns in the community.
