Driver arrested after KDMC duty truck runs over 3-year-old boy and his mother

Kalyan: A heartbreaking incident occurred when a truck ran over a 3-year-old boy and his mother. The driver, Vaibhav Balu Vairal, has been arrested.

He’s facing serious charges for negligence and rash driving. An official from the Bazarpeth Police Station mentioned that Vairal wasn’t under the influence of alcohol. He claimed the victims appeared suddenly in front of him, and despite hitting the brakes, it was too late.

After the accident, he panicked and fled the scene. The police caught up with him later, and he was taken to court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.

The tragic event unfolded on Wednesday morning near Dakshin Mukhi Maruti Mandir in Kalyan West. Nisha Someskar, 35, and her son Ansh were returning home after school when the speeding truck struck them.

Witnesses said Nisha thought she could cross safely since there was no divider. Sadly, the truck was carrying debris for the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation.

Emergency services were called, but both Nisha and Ansh were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
