Derry: A man got himself into a bit of trouble on Tuesday morning. He was arrested after a wild ride in the city. It all started when police tried to pull him over.
Instead of stopping, he decided to make a run for it. This happened around 9:30 AM near William Street. But things didn’t go as planned. He crashed into another car, causing some damage.
Luckily, the police were right there and managed to catch him. They arrested him for a bunch of things, including driving while unfit and not stopping for the police. They even found some Class C drugs on him.
A spokesperson from the PSNI said they were on patrol when they spotted a grey Vauxhall Corsa. The driver, who had a passenger, tried to escape but ended up colliding with another vehicle.
As he reversed towards the officers, one of them jumped in to stop him. They arrested him for dangerous driving and a few other serious offences. After a roadside test, they confirmed he was unfit to drive due to drink or drugs.
Right now, he’s still in custody, helping the police with their investigation. Thankfully, no one was hurt during this chaotic incident, which is a relief given how busy the area was.
If anyone saw what happened or has video footage, they’re encouraged to reach out to the police. They can call 101 and mention reference 306 of 14/01/25, or report online.
