North Yorkshire: So, there’s this woman who got snowed in at the Tan Hill Inn, which is the highest pub in Britain. She ended up missing the birth of her grandchild, which is just heartbreaking.
People have been following the story of how the guests and staff are managing since they got stuck on Saturday night. It’s been a mix of concern and some light-hearted jokes about how it can’t be that bad. But really, it’s tough when you think about what they’re missing back home.
The pub shared on social media that barmaid Kelly missed her daughter’s 18th birthday, and then housekeeper Babs found out she had a new grandbaby named Amelia. The little one arrived safely, weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. What a bittersweet moment!
Luckily, Aldi stepped in to help the stranded folks. They arranged for a local farmer to bring some supplies, including sausages. Can you imagine being stuck without your favorite snacks?
They even joked about preparing for a night without Malbec and breakfast without sausages until the snowplough came to the rescue. The farmer, Harry, really went above and beyond to get through the snow to deliver the goods.
While most guests have been escorted to safety, a few, including two German visitors, are still stuck there. They’re keeping busy with a game of Yorkshire Dales Monopoly. The pub is pretty well-equipped for emergencies like this, being off-grid and all.
This isn’t the first time the Tan Hill Inn has made headlines. It was featured in a Waitrose Christmas advert back in 2017, and in 2021, 61 guests were trapped there during Storm Arwen. Seems like this pub has quite the history with snow!
