Sheerness: So, there was this guy, Gavin Morland, who really messed up. He was driving drunk—like six times over the limit—and crashed his car right into a house. This happened on June 15, and it could have been a lot worse.

He hit a car, a lamppost, and then smashed into a two-story home where a 14-year-old boy was hanging out. Thankfully, the kid was okay, but his mom was super stressed about it. She said it could have been a disaster if someone had been walking by.

When the cops showed up, they could smell the booze on him. He was slurring his words and struggling to stand. They even found an empty vodka bottle in his car. Morland admitted he drank half a bottle before getting behind the wheel.

He had a history of drinking and driving, which didn’t help his case. But his lawyer said he was really sorry and had been going through a tough time after his marriage fell apart. He even became homeless for a bit.

Since the crash, Morland has been trying to turn his life around. He’s been sober for 81 days and is going to support groups. The judge noticed his efforts but still gave him a suspended sentence of 14 months and a hefty fine of £5,000.

Morland also can’t drive for 30 months and will have to take a test to get his license back. The judge made it clear that he needed to face the consequences of his actions, not just get help.
