Drayton, Grand Forks County, Shawn Kenneth Bjerke, Methamphetamine, Police Pursuit

Grand Forks County: A Drayton man, Shawn Kenneth Bjerke, was sentenced recently for a wild police chase that ended with him hitting two law enforcement vehicles. He got 180 days for a bunch of serious charges, including meth possession and fleeing from the cops.

Back in August, Bjerke was on the run after a pursuit that started in Traill County. When the Grand Forks police tried to pull him over, he just kept going, ignoring stop signs and speeding through the streets. It was a dangerous situation, with his car wobbling on a flat tire and other cars around.

Eventually, he crashed into a sheriff’s vehicle and then hit a Grand Forks police car head-on. When they searched his car, officers found a stash of meth and a syringe filled with a dangerous substance. Bjerke was sentenced to 10 years but will serve just 180 days in jail, thanks to time already served. After that, he’ll be on probation for three years and has to complete a program called Adult Teen Challenge.
