Foxborough: So, the game against the Chargers didn’t start off great for the Patriots. Their rookie quarterback, Drake Maye, took a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit just five minutes in. Ouch!
He had to go under the medical tent for a bit and then headed to the locker room. At first, they said he was questionable to return because of a head injury. Veteran Jacoby Brissett stepped in to take over for him.
But good news! Maye was cleared to come back in the second quarter. Remember, he had a concussion just a week ago against the Jets, which made the coaches a bit cautious about letting him run too much.
Still, they let him run a few designed plays last week, which was a first for the season. Before this game, he had already racked up 389 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Fans are definitely holding their breath every time he takes off running!
