London: Michelle Visage is buzzing about a new musical coming to town. It’s a queer twist on the classic Edward Scissorhands, and she’s co-producing it!

Called Scissorhandz: A Musical Reinvented, it’s set to be a fun, campy pop musical. Expect to hear songs from big names like Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.

The show opens at Southwark Playhouse Elephant on January 23 and runs until March 29. The cast hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s already generating excitement.

Michelle, who’s 56, is teaming up with her friend Lance Bass from *NSYNC and a talented crew to bring this project to life. She’s thrilled about it!

In a chat with The Standard, she shared how excited she is for everyone to see this reimagined story. She believes it’s a beautiful piece of art that resonates with many.

She pointed out that while the original movie had its sad moments, this musical will have a more uplifting ending. It’s all about fun and joy, and she thinks everyone will love it.

Michelle got involved because she wanted to be part of the project. When she couldn’t act in it, she jumped at the chance to produce. She and Lance are both super excited about it.

She mentioned how well it did in Los Angeles and is confident that London audiences will enjoy it just as much.

Last February, Michelle performed in The Addams Family in London, playing Morticia Addams. She had a blast working with Broadway star Ramin Karimloo and Lesley Joseph.

She described the musical as “grossly underrated” and hinted that there might be more news about it soon.

On top of that, she’s still involved with RuPaul’s Drag Race, which she’s been part of since 2011. It’s a project close to her heart, helping queer artists shine.

For the first time, she’s hosting the Australian version of the show, Drag Race Down Under, and joked about it being her closest experience to the jungle.

Michelle is also eager to dive into more acting roles in 2025, wanting to show a different side of herself.

She’s got a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 2 and will be hosting a special live show on New Year’s Eve.

Tickets for Scissorhandz: A Musical Reinvented are available now, and don’t miss her New Year’s Eve party on BBC Radio 2!
