Dover: A narrow lane has been shut down after a building was found leaning dangerously. It’s going to be closed for at least a week while they set up safety barriers.

Residents from five homes had to leave on Thursday night when they noticed the building in Flying Horse Lane tilting towards the street. It was a bit scary!

Police were on the scene all night, making sure everyone was safe and out of harm’s way. They closed the road in both directions when contractors started putting up metal barriers to prevent any falling bricks.

As the days went by, more barriers and ‘do not cross’ tape were added to keep folks away. The lane is still off-limits and will likely stay that way until at least Thursday night.

A spokesperson from Dover District Council mentioned they’re in touch with the building’s owner. The owner had already put up a scaffold last week and is now working on adding a hoarding around it.

The issue started when a problem with the roof caused the front wall to bulge out. Thankfully, the evacuated residents have been able to return home now.
