Leigh: A double decker bus driver sadly passed away after a crash. The 62-year-old was rushed to the hospital on Thursday but didn’t make it.
Emergency services were on the scene quickly at the junction of Atherleigh Way and Parsonage Way around 4 PM. It was quite a sight with road closures and all.
Fire crews had to cut the driver free before he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, Greater Manchester Police later confirmed he died.
Authorities believe the driver suffered a medical episode while driving, which led to him crashing into a tree and a roadside barrier.
The bus was out of service and thankfully, no passengers were on board. No one else got hurt in the crash, which is a small relief.
Now, GMP is asking for help. They want anyone with dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage from the moments before the crash to come forward.
