Chancellor Olaf Scholz responds to Elon Musk’s insults, urging calm and dismissing the billionaire’s political meddling in Germany

Scholz was chatting with a German magazine and mentioned that this kind of criticism isn’t new for him. He said, “You have to stay cool.” He’s been around long enough to know that some wealthy media folks don’t always see eye to eye with social democrats like him.
He made it clear he’s not interested in trying to win Musk over. Musk has been backing the far-right AfD party in Germany, and Scholz isn’t about to play nice. He said, “I’m happy to leave that to others.” His main point? Just ignore the noise.
This response came right after Scholz warned voters not to let social media moguls influence the election. Musk has been pretty vocal on his platform, X, pushing his political views and backing some controversial parties in Europe.
Just last November, Musk called Scholz a “fool” after a tragic attack in Germany. And as the elections approach, Musk has been throwing shade at Scholz again, saying he’ll lose. It’s like a never-ending back-and-forth!
Recently, Musk even jumped into UK politics, suggesting King Charles should dissolve parliament. Scholz, however, is more concerned about Musk’s support for the AfD, which he sees as a real threat to democracy.
Musk’s meddling in German politics has stirred up quite a bit of anger. He’s been pretty vocal about his support for the AfD, claiming they’re the “last spark of hope” for Germany. But many see them as a far-right party with extremist ties.
Scholz didn’t hold back in defending Germany’s democracy, saying, “The will of the citizens prevails, not the erratic comments of a billionaire from the USA.” It’s a strong statement, showing he’s not intimidated by Musk’s influence.
Besides Germany, Musk has been cozying up to other controversial leaders in Europe, which raises eyebrows. It seems like he’s trying to make waves everywhere, but Scholz is standing firm against it all.
