Camborne: A young man named Harley Liam Judd, just 24, tragically took his own life after battling anxiety and depression for years. He reached out to his GP just a day before his death, expressing his struggles.
Harley was born in Sancreed, near Penzance, and later moved to Hayle. He was a beloved son, brother, and partner. His family described him as someone who worked hard but never quite found his path in life.
During an inquest at Cornwall’s Coroner’s Court, it was revealed that Harley was so well-liked at Tesco that many colleagues wanted to attend his funeral, leading to staff from other stores being called in to cover shifts.
His mother shared that Harley had been open about his mental health challenges since he was 14. Despite his struggles, he was in a happy relationship at the time of his passing.
Witnesses at a dog walking area in Camborne saw Harley shortly before his death. One person noticed him sitting on the ground, smoking a cigarette, but thought nothing of it at the time. When they returned, an ambulance had been called.
Another witness recalled her dogs approaching Harley, who didn’t respond much. She asked if he was okay, and he mumbled something she couldn’t catch. Sadly, when they returned, he was found hanging, and emergency services were called.
Despite immediate CPR from police and paramedics, Harley passed away five days later due to a traumatic brain injury. He had been in contact with his GP and was receiving treatment for his depression.
In a heartbreaking note found on his phone, Harley expressed feeling overwhelmed by life’s struggles and shared his love for his family. His funeral notice described him as a “much-loved son, stepson, brother, partner, grandson, great-grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, colleague, and friend to many.”
