Stoke-on-Trent: A puppy found itself in a bit of a pickle after falling into a freezing lake. Luckily, firefighters were quick to jump into action and save the day.
The little pup, just 15 months old, got into trouble at Holden Lane pools in Sneyd Green. The owner called for help around 10 am, and the firefighters were on it.
Four crews, including a water rescue team, rushed to the scene. They used ice paths to carefully reach the pup and pull it out of the chilly water. It’s a good thing the owner didn’t try to rescue the dog themselves; they stayed safe while help arrived.
Once the dog was out, firefighters treated it with oxygen and wrapped it in warm blankets. The owner then took the pup to the vet for a check-up. They wrapped up their work and left the scene by 11:20 am.
This incident comes after nearby Excel Academy warned parents about students walking on the frozen lake. It’s a good reminder for everyone to talk to their kids about the dangers of icy water.
The fire service also shared some important tips to keep everyone safe around frozen lakes. They advised folks to stay away from the edges, avoid testing the ice, and keep pets on leads. It’s all about staying safe and keeping our furry friends out of trouble!
