Sheffield: Sophie Zaherali is heartbroken after her three-year-old XL Bully, Ghost, was shot four times by police. This happened on December 7, and she’s now fighting for justice.

Sophie believes the police “executed” her dog and insists there was no reason for such drastic action. She’s filed a complaint with the Independent Office for Police Conduct because she feels the shooting was unjustified.

Things took a turn when she was arrested for allegedly intimidating a witness after she shared footage of the incident online. She’s determined to find out who the officer was that shot Ghost and hold them accountable.

While in custody, police took her phone and her two other dogs, but they’ve since been returned. Sophie says the whole situation has torn her family apart and left her community in shock.

She recalls how Ghost bolted from their home when the front door blew open. While she was busy with her young son, chaos erupted outside. Her partner, Wayne, rushed out but was held back by officers as they shot Ghost.

The police responded to calls claiming Ghost had bitten someone, but Sophie firmly believes her dog was not a threat. She’s gathered support from around 30 people who protested against the shooting, showing just how much this has affected the community.

Sophie is adamant that Ghost never bit anyone and is now pursuing legal action against the police. She just wants to bring her beloved dog home for a proper goodbye, but the police are still holding onto his remains as part of their investigation.
