London: A doctor is sounding the alarm about spending big bucks on beauty products that don’t deliver, especially when it comes to dark circles under the eyes.

Dark circles are a common issue, and they can be caused by a bunch of things like genetics, lack of sleep, or even allergies. While some folks might even play them up with makeup, many are on the hunt for a solution.

Dr. Ree Adel, who’s gaining popularity on TikTok for her skincare tips, warns that many eye creams just won’t cut it. She’s got a twin sister, Dr. Aamna Adel, who’s also into skincare and is quite the TikTok star herself.

In a recent video, Dr. Ree tackled the effectiveness of these creams, saying that for some people, no cream will really do the trick. She looked straight into the camera and said, “I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if you have dark circles and think an eye cream alone is going to fix that, it’s not.”

She specifically mentioned that this advice is for those with hereditary dark circles, which often run in families. Dr. Ree explained that while some eye creams can help a bit—especially those with retinol or vitamin C—they’re not a magic fix.

For genetic dark circles, she suggested treatments like lasers or PRP, which stands for Platelet-rich plasma. This procedure uses your own blood to help heal various skin issues and is sometimes called a “vampire facial.”

Dr. Ree emphasized that it takes a mix of treatments to see real results. “If you’re spending hundreds on eye creams hoping they’ll solve everything, they won’t,” she said.

In the comments, people shared their thoughts. One person agreed, saying no eye cream helped their dark circles. Dr. Ree replied that those creams might work better for non-genetic issues.

Another commenter shared a not-so-great experience with PRP, saying the swelling was awful and it took too long to see results. They just didn’t have the time to deal with that.

Another user chimed in, “Makes sense. I’ve tried so many eye creams, but none of them work.”
