Somerset: The pothole situation in Somerset is getting out of hand. Drivers are really feeling the impact, with many reporting damage to their cars. It seems like every week, new potholes pop up, and folks are fed up.

Potholes can really mess up your ride. They can damage shock absorbers, suspension springs, and even bend your wheels. They usually form when water freezes and thaws under the road, creating those annoying holes.

Fixing all the potholes in England and Wales would cost a staggering £16.3 billion. The government is planning to increase funding for local road maintenance to nearly £1.6 billion for the next financial year. But councils need to show they can fix the roads efficiently to get that money.

People are sharing their thoughts on where to start fixing the roads on our Facebook page. One reader, Sarah, suggests starting right outside the council offices, saying the roads there are in terrible shape.

Another reader, De, mentioned a roundabout that was supposedly fixed but still has a massive hole. Dorothy pointed out the poor road quality in Taunton, while Sylvia and Martin both complained about the pothole situation in Yeovil.

Others chimed in with their own horror stories about the roads. Sarah said it’s a disaster everywhere, and Lizzie mentioned she’s gone through five tires in just a few months. It’s clear that many people are feeling the frustration.

What do you think? If you could choose, which roads would you fix first? Join the conversation and let us know!
