PHOENIX: It’s a sad day for basketball fans. Dick Van Arsdale, a true legend of the Phoenix Suns, has passed away at 81. He was a three-time All-Star and the first player ever picked by the Suns back in 1968.

The team shared the news on Monday, and it hit hard. They called him the “Original Sun” and remembered him as a key part of their history. Sadly, they didn’t share the cause of his passing.

Van Arsdale was a big deal. He scored the first points in Suns history and was a major player during his time. He even helped the team reach the NBA Finals in 1976, although they lost to the Celtics.

After hanging up his sneakers, he didn’t just disappear. He stayed with the Suns in various roles, including as a broadcaster and in the front office. His legacy will definitely live on.

He leaves behind his twin brother, Tom, who also made a name for himself in the NBA. It’s a tough loss for the family and the entire basketball community.
