Exeter, Devon, Jack Wood, A30, Night Out, Road Collision
Exeter: A young man named Jack Wood, just 26, was out having a good time with friends when things took a tragic turn. After a night at a nightclub, he ended up walking home to Axminster along the A30. Sadly, he was struck by a car while walking in the road.
It all started when Jack was kicked out of the club and began his journey home. He was clearly in a rough state, and concerned drivers called the police multiple times as they saw him wandering around. He even turned down help from officers a few times, acting a bit erratically.
Witnesses said he was walking in the middle of the road, and it was around 5 am when a white Audi hit him. Some drivers tried to avoid him, but it was too late. An ambulance was nearby and arrived quickly, but Jack sadly didn’t make it.
Investigations revealed he had been drinking and had cannabis in his system, which might have affected his judgment. His family shared how much he was loved and how he had plans for the future, leaving a huge gap in their lives.
The driver of the Audi, a woman returning home from work, was understandably shaken. She thought she had hit a deer at first. After a thorough investigation, it was concluded that she wasn’t at fault, but the whole situation is just heartbreaking.
Jack’s death was described as an absolute tragedy, and while he had faced some mental health challenges in the past, it was clear he was loved deeply by his family and friends. It’s a tough reminder of how quickly things can change.
