Dartford: So, after the holiday season, they’re getting back to work on the Dartford Crossing. Starting next week, they’ll be doing some steelwork inspections and repairs in the west tunnel. This will happen on weeknights from 9 PM to 6 AM. But don’t worry, the east tunnel will stay open overnight for northbound traffic while they’re busy in the west tunnel.
They’ll also keep doing their regular safety checks on weekends from 10 PM to 5 AM. Just a heads up, there are three overnight closures of the QEII Bridge planned for January. These will be on Saturday the 11th, 18th, and 25th, all for essential maintenance on the bridge.
These closures will kick off at 10 PM on Saturday nights and wrap up by 5 AM on Sunday mornings, which is when there are fewer cars around. They’ll set up a contraflow route through the east tunnel starting around 9:30 PM on those Saturdays to keep things moving southbound.
Meanwhile, the west tunnel will still be open for northbound travel, but keep in mind there’s a height restriction for vehicles between 4.8 meters and 5.0 meters high.
Here’s a quick rundown of the upcoming closures: From January 10 to January 26, there will be various closures in the west and east tunnels, along with the QEII Bridge closures on the specified Saturdays. Just make sure to check for any last-minute changes, as things can shift quickly. You can find the latest updates on their daily closures page or check out live travel info on Traffic England.
