Richmond: A community repair cafe and eco fair is happening at Richmond School on Sunday, January 19. It’s a great chance to fix up broken stuff and learn about caring for our environment.
Local volunteers will be there to help repair all sorts of items. You can bring in things like bikes, electronics, clothes, and even garden tools. Plus, if you’ve got an unwanted Christmas gift, you can swap it for something new!
The event runs from 9:45 AM to 12:30 PM in the Sixth Form Hall, and it’s totally free. There will also be fun activities like pedaling on a Smoothie Bike and painting stones inspired by bugs.
Local groups like Save Our Swale and Richmond Landscape Trust will share tips on how to protect our environment. Barbara Gravenor, the chair of the Richmondshire Climate Action Partnership, said this event is a great way to keep items out of landfills and give unwanted gifts a new life.
Valerie Adams, who’s organizing the repair cafe, mentioned that many Christmas gifts, like kids’ bikes, might not be well-made. This event is perfect for getting those gifts back in shape!
