Chicago: Derrick Rose really felt the love from his hometown. The Bulls held a special halftime ceremony for him, and it was a big deal. Even though his jersey retirement is still coming up, the emotions were running high.

During the game against the New York Knicks, former teammates and fans packed the United Center to celebrate “Derrick Rose Night.” It was a night to remember, with a lot of familiar faces around. The ceremony featured some touching speeches, especially from Joakim Noah, which brought Rose to tears.

After a heartfelt tribute video, Rose took the mic. He shared how much Chicago meant to him and how the city pushed him to be great. He thanked everyone who supported him through thick and thin, from his early days in school to his MVP moments and tough playoff games.

Even though he announced his retirement in September, his legacy in Chicago is solid. He was the hometown hero who came back as the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and helped turn the Bulls into contenders. Injuries may have slowed him down, but the love from the fans showed he’s still a star in their eyes.

The Bulls also announced that Rose will be the fifth player in their history to have his number retired, joining legends like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. A special ceremony for that will happen later, but for now, the love from the fans was more than enough.

And just to clarify, there won’t be a statue for him, at least not yet!
