New Orleans: The Saints are in a bit of a pickle. Quarterback Derek Carr and running back Alvin Kamara have both missed practice again. While they haven’t been officially ruled out for Monday night’s game, it’s not looking great.
Carr is still dealing with that left hand injury he picked up in the Week 14 win over the Giants. As for Kamara, he’s got a groin issue that might even end his season, according to interim head coach Darren Rizzi.
If Carr can’t play, rookie Spencer Rattler will step in as the starter. Kendre Miller is likely to get more carries at running back, too. It’s a tough spot for the team.
On top of that, they’ve got a few other players missing practice. Wide receivers Bub Means and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are out, along with defensive end Chase Young. It’s a rough week for the offense.
There’s a little good news, though. Tight end Juwan Johnson and wide receiver Chris Olave were limited participants. Olave is back in practice but needs to be activated from injured reserve to play on Monday.
