Ripley: Police are asking for help after several cars were broken into. This happened overnight from January 31 to February 3. Thankfully, no cars were stolen, but some items were taken.
Thieves took a laptop, jacket, power drill, and cash from the vehicles. The break-ins occurred in areas like Holborn View, Windmill Close, and Peasehill. Some cars were targeted at the same address.
Police want anyone with information or CCTV footage to call 101. Use reference number 25*63700 when you do. They are keen to catch those responsible.
Derbyshire Constabulary advises drivers to always lock their cars. They say thieves look for cars with wing mirrors that fold in automatically. If the mirrors are out, it’s a sign the car might be unlocked.
Don’t leave valuables like phones, coins, or sunglasses in your car. These items attract opportunistic thieves. Also, never leave wallets or credit cards in an unattended vehicle.
Be careful with visible signs of electronics. Leaving mounts for Sat Navs or cables in view can signal to thieves that you have valuable devices inside.
If you keep tools in your van overnight, mark them with your name or company details. Use paint pens and seal them with clear lacquer. Marked items are less appealing to thieves.
