Nurse Struck Off for Drugging Patients to Live an ‘Easy Life’

Catherine Hudson faces consequences after drugging patients for her own convenience

Blackpool: A nurse named Catherine Hudson has been kicked out of the nursing profession after some shocking actions. She was found guilty of drugging patients just to make her shifts easier.

While working at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, she illegally sedated two patients. One of them was a 76-year-old woman named Aileen Scott, who was already in a tough spot after suffering a stroke.

Hudson didn’t stop there. She also conspired with a junior colleague to sedate another patient. This all came to light thanks to a whistleblowing student nurse back in November 2018.

Messages on Hudson’s phone revealed her disturbing mindset. She joked about sedating a patient, saying she had put one “to within an inch of her life.” Can you believe that?

Last year, she was sentenced to over seven years in prison. Just recently, the Nursing and Midwifery Council decided to strike her off for good.

During her trial, the judge pointed out how Hudson exploited vulnerable patients for her own convenience. The misconduct panel was equally appalled, calling her actions “deplorable.”

They found that her behavior was a serious violation of nursing standards, and there was no sign she understood the gravity of her actions. They felt it was too risky to let her practice again.

Her accomplice, Charlotte Wilmot, also faced the music. She got three years in jail for her role in this mess. It’s a sad situation all around.
