Wallsend: So, there’s a plan on the table to knock down a building at Tyne Metropolitan College. It’s been around for a while, but it’s in pretty rough shape.

The folks at Tyne Coast College say it’s not really useful for teaching anymore. They’ve got a report saying it would cost a whopping £7 million just to keep it standing over the next five years. Yikes!

They’re looking to move classes to other buildings on the campus since three floors of this one are already out of action. The college is all about making things better, so they’re exploring their options.

If the North Tyneside Council gives the green light, the demolition could start as soon as September 2026. They’ll even have a traffic plan to keep things running smoothly while they work.

And don’t worry, they’re planning to do this during the holidays when students are away. As of now, they’re still waiting for a decision on the application.
