Cape Canaveral: Early Monday morning, SpaceX kicked off the holiday season with a Falcon 9 rocket launch. It was quite the sight as the rocket took off at 12:35 a.m., lighting up the cloudy Florida sky.
This mission was all about delivering the next batch of Starlink internet satellites. They sent up 21 satellites in total, with 13 dedicated to mobile service. They called this mission Starlink 12-2.
Just eight-and-a-half minutes after liftoff, the first stage booster made a successful landing on the drone ship named Just Read the Instructions, floating in the Atlantic. This booster has been busy, marking its fourteenth flight with a history of missions under its belt.
All in all, this launch was a big deal for the Space Coast, being their 91st launch of the year. Can you believe that?
Now, if you’re wondering about future launches, keep an eye out for updates. SpaceX has been busy, and there’s always something happening in the skies above Florida.
By the way, there was a bit of a hiccup with another mission for Astranis Space Technologies. They had to delay their launch due to weather and even had a last-second abort on December 20. SpaceX is still figuring out when they can try again.
