Newport: The kids at St Andrew’s Primary School are finally back together! After a long wait, the new building is ready, and everyone is buzzing with excitement.

It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. The school had to move junior classes to temporary spots because of some serious issues with the old building. But now, they’re all back on one site, and it feels great.

Headteacher Jo Giles is thrilled. She recently showed council leaders around, saying it’s wonderful to have everyone back together. The community has been super supportive during the whole process, and she thinks the wait was totally worth it.

Cllr Dimitri Batrouni praised the new building, calling it an excellent upgrade for the kids and staff. It’s all about creating a better learning environment, and that’s what they’ve done.

There’s more good news too! A new primary school opened at the Whiteheads development, and another building at Bassaleg School opened last October. It’s a busy time for education in Newport.

But not everything is smooth sailing. Some other school projects are facing delays. For instance, a new sports hall at Ysgol Gymraeg Gwent Is Coed is running behind schedule due to some underground issues. The council is working on it, though, and they’re hopeful for a resolution.

So, while there are a few bumps in the road, the reopening of St Andrew’s is a big win for Newport. Everyone’s looking forward to seeing the kids thrive in their new space!
