Ponthir: So, there’s this guy, Gary Bishop, who’s really bummed out because he can’t take his girlfriend, Julie, on their holiday. He lost his driving licence, and it’s a real hassle.
They had been looking forward to this trip for ages, but now it’s all up in the air. Gary, who’s 59 and turning 60 soon, has been dealing with bipolar disorder. Because of that, he had to let the DVLA know about his condition.
He’s been getting help and is on medication, but he’s supposed to be off it by early 2025. Gary thought everything was sorted when his psychiatrist sent the necessary forms to the DVLA back in July. But it turns out, the forms still haven’t made it to the right place.
He’s feeling pretty lost, saying he’s just going in circles trying to figure out when he’ll get his licence back. All he wants is to hire a car for their holiday, but without that licence or a special code from the DVLA, he’s stuck.
It’s super frustrating for him, and now they might have to change their holiday plans. The DVLA did mention that they try to make decisions quickly, but they need all the info from medical professionals first. So, it’s a waiting game for Gary.
