Dallas: So, the big question on everyone’s mind is who will be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys? It’s still early days, and while other teams are already making moves, Jerry Jones is just starting to chat with potential candidates.
According to Yahoo Sports, former Jets head coach Robert Saleh is in the mix for an interview. But the buzz is really around Deion Sanders, the head coach at Colorado. After the Cowboys let go of Mike McCarthy, Sanders and Jones have had some talks about the position.
Jones has a lot of choices for his next head coach. DraftKings has listed six coaches and coordinators as top contenders, with Sanders being the favorite to take the reins in Dallas.
Sanders and Jones are expected to connect again soon. While Sanders has expressed his love for Colorado, he hasn’t completely shut the door on the Cowboys gig. He mentioned how delightful it is to hear from Jerry and how intriguing the opportunity is.
Before heading to Colorado, Sanders coached at Jackson State and made quite an impact. He signed a hefty contract and turned the Buffaloes around from a 4-8 record to 9-4 in just one season.
Plus, let’s not forget Sanders’ history with the Cowboys. He played five seasons with them and even helped them win Super Bowl XXX.
Another name in the mix is Kellen Moore, the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. He’s got a history with the Cowboys too, having played there and served as their offensive coordinator before moving to Philadelphia.
Moore has been requested for interviews with other teams, but he’s focused on the Eagles for now. He’s enjoying the moment and not worrying too much about what’s next.
Then there’s Kliff Kingsbury, who has experience as a head coach with the Cardinals. He’s been making waves with the Commanders, and his offensive strategies could catch Jones’ eye.
Ben Johnson, the Lions’ offensive coordinator, is another hot name. He’s had interviews lined up with several teams, but timing is tricky since the Lions are still in the playoffs.
Joe Brady, the Bills’ offensive coordinator, is also in the conversation. He’s had success with top quarterbacks and could bring that magic to Dallas.
Lastly, Aaron Glenn, the Lions’ defensive coordinator, is a former Cowboy himself. He’s made it clear that he’s a coach first, regardless of his defensive background.
