Indianapolis: DeForest Buckner didn’t hold back after the Colts’ latest playoff miss. He was pretty upset following their loss to the Giants, which sealed their fate.
“Honestly, we (expletive) the bed again, and it’s just frustrating,” he said. You can see the potential, but they just can’t seem to get over that hump.
After the loss, the Colts ended the season at 7-9. They let the Giants, who were struggling, score 45 points. That’s the most they’ve allowed all season, and it’s just embarrassing.
This marks the third time in four years the Colts have flopped in a must-win game. They’ve only managed one playoff win in the last decade, which is just sad.
Pat McAfee, a former Colts punter, also took to social media to criticize the team. He pointed out that anyone could see the red flags with this squad.
He mentioned how some fans tried to turn him into the bad guy for speaking the truth about the team. It’s wild how passionate fans can get.
There are a lot of issues with the Colts this season. Quarterback Anthony Richardson had a rough start and even had to take himself out of a game because he was exhausted. Then there was that fumble by Jonathan Taylor right before the goal line, which was just a killer.
Most of last year’s 9-8 team returned, but they took a step back this season under coach Shane Steichen. Buckner, in his fifth year with the team, is calling for changes this offseason.
He knows some people will stay, and others will go. “Changes are going to need to be made,” he said. Everyone in the building gets that.
The Colts will finish the regular season against the Jaguars, but honestly, that game doesn’t mean much now.
“Every year is different,” Taylor said. “Next week will be the last time all 53 of us are in that locker room together.”
It’s tough when a season doesn’t go as planned. There might be more changes than usual this time around.
