San Francisco: So, Deebo Samuel is feeling a bit frustrated these days. He stirred up some chatter with a social media post saying he’s “not struggling at all just not getting the ball,” but then he went ahead and deleted it. When he spoke to reporters in the locker room, he didn’t hold back about his feelings.
He admitted, “You read what you read, a little frustrated for sure.” It sounds like he’s been having some real talks with coach Kyle Shanahan about getting more touches, which is good to hear.
Recently, Samuel hasn’t been much of a factor in the passing game. He’s only racked up 85 receiving yards over the last four games. And his running game has taken a hit too. Last season, he was a beast with 225 yards and five touchdowns on 37 carries. This year, he’s only managed 92 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries. He mentioned that defenses are catching on to his running style.
“They’re not surprised anymore,” he said. “We’ve been doing it for almost three years now.” With the 49ers needing a boost to keep their playoff hopes alive, getting Samuel back to his All-Pro form could be a game-changer. But for now, it seems like the pressure is building.
