Pembrokeshire: So, guess what? Pembrokeshire County Council has decided to give folks a bit more time to apply for a spot on their Governance and Audit Committee. The new deadline is now January 31, which is pretty cool for anyone interested.
They’re looking for a lay person to join the committee. This group is all about keeping an eye on the council’s financial stuff, checking out risk management, and making sure everything’s running smoothly in terms of governance.
If you’re thinking about applying, you’ll need to know a thing or two about audits and show that you care about being accountable and open, especially when it comes to managing public funds.
But here’s the catch: if you’re currently working for the local authority or have been recently, or if you’re married to someone who is, you can’t apply. They want fresh faces, you know?
The selection will be done by a panel that includes an independent chair, three council members, and a community council member. Plus, there’s a little allowance for attending the meetings, which is nice.
They’re really hoping to hear from people from all walks of life in the community. If you want to know more or throw your hat in the ring, just reach out to Lydia Cheshire at 01437 775356 or shoot her an email at lydia.cheshire@pembrokeshire.gov.uk.
