Grantham: Last week, officers pulled over 16 vehicles during a road safety operation on the A1. It was a joint effort by Lincolnshire Police and the DVSA, called Operation Repression.

They set up shop at Gonerby Moor, focusing on large goods vehicles, especially those transporting cars. The goal? To make sure everyone is following the road traffic rules.

During the operation, officers found several vehicles in dangerous conditions. They issued fixed penalty tickets and even prohibited some vehicles from continuing their journey.

The issues ranged from defects and insecure loads to drivers not following their hours of service. It’s a big deal because these safety breaches can lead to serious accidents.

PC Glenn Faulks, who was in charge of the operation, expressed disappointment over the findings. He mentioned that these are professional drivers who should know better.

He pointed out that improperly secured loads have been linked to fatal crashes, stressing the importance of compliance. The operation was a reminder that road safety is crucial, especially for those behind the wheel of large vehicles.
