Liverpool: You won’t believe this! A dance troupe in Liverpool just showed everyone that age really is just a number. Their oldest member is 76, and they rocked the stage with their performance of “hot honey rag.”
They put on a fantastic show to raise £80,000 for Liverpool Women’s Hospital. This money will help fund bereavement rooms and essential equipment for the maternity department. How cool is that?
Captain Hazel Langdon, who leads the Dance Unlimited Show Steppers, couldn’t be prouder. She said the average age of the troupe is 58, and they all show up every week for rehearsals, ready to give it their all.
Hazel mentioned, “It just goes to show that you are never too old to dance, learn a new skill, and perform in front of a packed audience.” It’s all about staying fit and being part of a team, and she feels like they’re making dreams come true.
Dance Unlimited specializes in various dance styles, welcoming members aged 36 to 76. Their recent event, “Strictly For Liverpool Women’s Hospital,” was a hit and has raised over £115,000 in total over the years.
This annual charity show pairs professional dancers with hospital staff in a fun competition, and this year, they performed in front of 500 spectators. The funds raised go to the Honeysuckle Bereavement Service, which supports parents dealing with loss.
They even have a monthly support group for bereaved parents and a special group for men affected by pregnancy loss, working alongside Liverpool Football Club Foundation. It’s heartwarming to see such community spirit!
