Dalmuir: Saur Services Glasgow has invested £3 million in the wastewater treatment plant. This funding is part of a crucial upgrade at the Beardmore Street facility.

The money will help improve the fine screens. These screens remove small debris that can harm the water system downstream.

On January 28, Saur Group and Nijhuis celebrated the project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new screens are the result of months of planning and technical work.

They replaced old equipment with state-of-the-art technology. This upgrade ensures compliance and keeps operations stable.

Andrew Heyes, Director of Saur Glasgow, praised the team’s efforts. He noted that much of their work goes unnoticed, but it’s vital for the community.

Heyes emphasized the plant’s impressive compliance record. He expressed pride in the team’s achievements during this complex project.

Each screen replacement was carefully planned to avoid disrupting water operations. It took several weeks to get the new screens running.

Now, the plant enjoys increased reliability and screening capacity. This means a more efficient water treatment system.

Previously, locals raised concerns about a “Dalmuir smell” from the plant. Recently, a resident protested, claiming tampon applicators washed up on nearby shores.

Saur responded, stating their screens were effective and there were no filter issues.
