Northumberland: A father is mourning the loss of his daughter, Josie, who died in a tragic accident on the A1. They were returning from a family campervan holiday when the crash happened.
Josie, just 26, loved nature and had spent a wonderful week with her family in their VW Transporter campervan in Dunbar, Scotland. They often traveled north from their home in Northallerton, and Josie cherished walks on the beautiful, quiet beaches of Northumberland.
On their way back, a car coming from the opposite direction swerved into their lane, leading to a head-on collision. Steve, Josie’s dad, shared how other drivers rushed to help, with one man even keeping her airway open until help arrived.
Despite everyone’s efforts, Josie sadly passed away at the scene. An inquest revealed that the other driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, which caused the crash.
During the inquest, the coroner detailed how the accident unfolded. Steve expressed his deep sorrow, saying Josie was a beloved part of their family and they miss her every day.
He remembered her special bond with her sister, Theadora, and how Josie was passionate about learning. She had degrees in Psychology and Psycholinguistics from the University of York.
Josie was also a creative spirit, enjoying painting and weaving, often inspired by the beauty of nature. The family fondly recalls their campervan trips and walks along the stunning beaches.
Steve thanked everyone who tried to save Josie that day, acknowledging the heroic efforts of the emergency services and bystanders. He also mentioned that the inquest provided some closure for their family.
However, the loss has left a significant void in their lives. Steve reflected on how hard it has been to adjust to life without her, especially during the holidays when she was always around.
