Tenterden: A dad is really upset after some kids with catapults smashed his dining room window. Matt Sendall-King, 47, is now facing a £350 bill to fix it.

He moved to Tenterden in 2022, thinking it was a great place for his family. But now, he’s dealing with the aftermath of this mindless vandalism.

His wife was home when she heard a loud crash. At first, she thought something had just fallen, but then she found the broken glass and a pebble on the floor.

Matt can’t understand why kids even have catapults. He calls it mindless vandalism and wonders what fun they get from it.

Despite this incident, he still believes Tenterden is a lovely place with a great community. But he feels that a few troublemakers are ruining it for everyone.

He’s seen posts about catapults online before, but it hits differently when it happens to you. Now he’s left with a bill and worries about what could have happened if someone had been hurt.

The local council is aware of similar incidents and has urged people to report any youths using catapults. They’re taking this seriously, especially since it’s been a growing problem in the area.

Police are looking into this incident, which is just one of many in the Ashford district. Last week, another window was smashed in a nearby area.

In fact, Ashford has been named the county’s hotspot for catapult-related vandalism for five years in a row. It’s a real issue that needs addressing.

If anyone saw what happened in Rogersmead on January 9, they should reach out to the police with any information.
