Dad and Daughter Play Fighting Before Tragic Stabbing Incident

Darlington: So, there’s this really tragic case going on in court. A 14-year-old girl named Scarlett Vickers died from a stab wound, and her dad, Simon Vickers, is at the center of it all. He claims they were just play fighting in the kitchen when it happened.
A pathologist testified that it would have been nearly impossible for Scarlett to have been fatally injured by a knife thrown by her dad. The wound was deep, about 11 cm, and it hit her heart. Simon insists he was just messing around while cooking, but the details are pretty grim.
He told the police that one moment he was cooking, and the next, there was blood everywhere. He said he picked up a spatula to throw at Scarlett but didn’t realize he was also holding a knife. The court heard that the knife went deep into her chest, which is just heartbreaking.
Dr. Jennifer Bolton, who did the autopsy, explained that if the knife had been thrown, it would have had to hit Scarlett at a perfect angle to cause such damage. She said it was practically impossible for it to have been thrown and caused that kind of injury. It’s just so tragic to think about.
When paramedics arrived, Scarlett’s mom was trying to perform CPR. She mentioned that they were play fighting and even throwing knives at each other. It’s just so sad to think that a moment of fun turned into such a disaster.
Simon described the scene, saying they were just having a good time, but now he’s facing serious charges. He denies murder and manslaughter, but the case is ongoing, and it’s expected to last about ten days. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
